We realize that no one wants to think about winter in May, but the earlier you get your chimney serviced the better—and you’ll save money because our summer rate is considerably cheaper. In general, we recommend an annual service for folks burning two or more cords in a season. We have standard cleaning rates that apply for each season:
Proactive maintenance will save you a lot of trouble down the line: each winter we get calls from homeowners with clogged chimneys, or worse, one’s that have been compromised by a violent chimney fire. The amount of creosote buildup depends on how hot you burn (the hotter you burn, the less buildup) and the moisture content in your wood (the drier the wood, the less buildup).

Stainless Steel Liners
Liners come in various sizes and lengths but all serve the same purpose: creating a new chimney within an older masonry chimney. If your chimney was built prior to the 1950s it probably does not have a tile liner and there’s only one layer of very old brick separating smoke and sparks from the combustible material in your home. A chimney fire in an older chimney like this can have potentially devastating consequences.
Also, if your chimney has been heavily used and is older, chances are your tile liner may be be cracked and compromised. Stainless steel liners are not cheap and the installations can be very tricky. But upgrading an older chimney with a liner is far less expensive than tearing down and rebuilding it. Most of our lining jobs end up costing the homeowner between $1400-1800. Chimney Caps
Every chimney should have a chimney cap and spark arrestor. Chimney caps keep the weather out (an inch of rain means an inch of rain at the bottom of your uncapped flue). Second, caps will not only keep out the weather, but various birds and rodents who might venture down your chimney or otherwise deem it suitable habitat for nesting purposes. And third, all caps we install are equipped with sidewall spark arrestors that help keep sparks from spewing out the top. Caps vary in size. We only install stainless steel. Call us for a free quote.
Metalbestos Chimneys
We also specialize in Metalbestos insulated stainless chimneys. These chimneys are a cheaper alternative to a conventional brick chimney. Insulated metalbestos allows you to get very close (within 2 inches) to combustible materials. Each season we punch through many walls and roofs and install these safe and efficient chimney units.
